Category: Youth and Brussels-based regions

“Youth and Brussels Based Regions” is a European project initiated by the Brussels-based branch of Abruzzo Region in partnership with the regions of Dubrovnik-Neretva, Lubuskie, and Prešov. The project was approved by the European Commission and is co-financed by the “Youth in Action” Programme.

Coordinator-Partner: Abruzzo Region (Italy)

Co-organising Partners: Dubrovnik-Neretva County (Croatia), Lubuskie Voivodeship (Poland), Prešov Self-Governing Region (Slovakia)

All these regions want to provide their youngsters with the same Brussels-Based cooperating-platform, which works on daily basis for their branches, as a unique provider of non-formal education sources and opportunities.

The project aims at sending/hosting 80 youngsters from the Regions to Brussels, in the time-frame of 24 months.

Project starts on 1st May 2014, combining two “YiA” activities: EUROPEAN VOLUNTARY SERVICE and TRANSNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGES.

Beneficiaries of this extraordinary learning experience will be chosen, as far as the European Voluntary Service is concerned, amongst the young people aged 18/30 and as regards to Youth Transnational Exchanges amongst both workers and unemployed aged 18/25.

For the selected candidates, the coverage of expenses for food and accommodation, including travel expenses as well as pocket money are provided.

Activities starting on May will include the selection procedure and a wide raising awareness campaign about the project will be undertaken through web and social media (already available). The project focuses on the large involvement of very motivated young people in all four partner regions since this very early phase. First placements are expected in September 2014.

The selection will be made according to the traditional rules of the Youth in Action Programme and in line with the transparent manner. A good knowledge of one foreign language and a strong motivation will be the main requirements.

There will be in total: 22 for Abruzzo, 20 for Prešov and Lubuskie and 18 for Dubrovnik-Neretva successful candidates selected. They will come to Brussels and will have the opportunity to take a closer look not only at a newly elected European Parliament, the renewal of the European Commission and other European bodies (such as the Committee of the Regions), but also at the six-month Italian Presidency of the European Union. These young people will serve also as "antennas" for all those following at home, through the "Web Community".
